Staff training built for MoMo fraud, SIM-swap, and Act 843
Ama in operations gets a call: "I sent GHS 800 to the wrong number, please reverse it." Kofi gets a text telling him to update his Ghana Card before his SIM is deactivated. Both are scams Ghanaian teams see every week. We build training around that reality, not a generic phishing deck, and map it openly to Act 843 and the Cybersecurity Act.

Two laws are pushing staff training up the priority list
Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843)
Ghana's data protection law requires controllers and processors to take appropriate security measures to protect personal data. The Data Protection Commission (DPC) oversees compliance. We treat staff training as a measure that supports this obligation, not as a quoted legal requirement with a fixed cadence.
Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038)
Established the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) to regulate cybersecurity activity in Ghana. Staff awareness training is consistent with the Act's broader intent around reducing cyber risk, including for organizations designated as critical information infrastructure.

View training →Fraud patterns taught as dedicated modules, not a generic deck
- MoMo reversal scams - recognizing the "I sent it to the wrong number, please refund" call and why staff should never reverse a mobile money transfer outside the proper process.
- SIM-swap fraud - spotting a SIM swap in progress and protecting the mobile line tied to banking and MoMo wallets.
- Fake Ghana Card & SIM re-registration texts - never tapping a link in a text claiming to be the NIA or a telco asking to "update" or "verify" an ID.
- Fake GRA and bank-alert fraud - recognizing callers who claim to be the Ghana Revenue Authority or a bank's fraud unit and pressure staff to read out a PIN or OTP.
- Fake recruitment & loan-app scams - spotting fraudulent job offers and predatory loan apps that harvest contacts and personal data.
Frequently asked questions
Does Ghana's Data Protection Act require staff cybersecurity training?
The Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) requires data controllers and processors to take appropriate security measures to protect personal data, and the Data Protection Commission (DPC) oversees compliance. We did not find a clause that sets an exact training frequency, so we describe training as supporting that security obligation rather than quoting a specific cadence as a legal requirement.
What does the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038) cover?
It establishes the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) to regulate cybersecurity activity in Ghana, including obligations that apply to owners of critical information infrastructure. Staff awareness is consistent with the Act's broader intent; we have not independently confirmed a specific section mandating a training program, so we phrase this as "supports," not "satisfies."
What scams do Ghanaian staff actually report?
The pattern we hear about most: a MoMo "wrong transfer, please refund it" call followed by a real refund sent to a fraudster, text messages asking someone to "update your Ghana Card" or "re-verify your SIM" through a link, SIM-swap attempts used to intercept one-time codes, and calls impersonating GRA or a bank's fraud department asking someone to read out a PIN or OTP.
Is this training only for banks?
No. We built sector pages for banks and savings and loans companies, mobile money agents, and government contractors, plus an All-Staff Core track that covers MoMo fraud, SIM-swap, and fake KYC texts for any Ghanaian organization, regardless of sector.
